Christmas Treasures

Advent is primarily about the coming of God, and only in a secondary way about our asking, seeking, waiting, and longing. There is hope, because we are unconditionally loved, whatever may be our failures, our tepidity, or our secret despair.
Maria Boulding

Hope

Hope, like a gleaming taper’s light,
Adorns and cheers our way;
And still, as darker grows the night,
Emits a brighter ray.

The Yule trees and the dreams all children dream
The tremulous glow of candles in rows
The gold and silver of angels and globes
And the splendor of tinsel and toys under trees.
Boris Pasternak

Our religion is one which challenges the ordinary human standards by holding that the ideal of life is the spirit of a little child. We tend to glorify adulthood and wisdom and worldly prudence, but the Gospel reverses all this. The Gospel says that the inescapable condition of entrance into the divine fellowship is that we turn and become as a little child.

Thanksgiving

When in doubt, believe the best. Whether it is for your future or about the people you know, believing the best brings back the best. It's almost like sending a radio message out to the universe, "You can trust me to appreciate the good gifts you're sending!" A little seed of gratitude can one day grow into a crop of blessings.

Abundance is…a grateful heart.

Candy Paull, The Art of Abundance

Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness

“Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.”

Sweet kitty....

Sweet kitty....

Prowling his own quiet backyard or asleep by the fire, he is still only a whisker away from the wilds.

Predator yawn...

Everything I know I learned from my cat: When you're hungry, eat. When you're tired, nap in a sunbeam. When you go to the vet's, pee on your owner.
